Fire destroyed a mobile home in the Riverwoods community on Riverleigh Avenue in Riverside this afternoon.

One of the occupants of the home was transported by Flanders-Northampton Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The home next door sustained damage from the heat of the fire.
The home at unit 40 on Pond Road in Riverwoods was fully engulfed when Riverhead Fire Department firefighters responded to the 3:24 p.m. call. Three occupants of the home were already outside.

Flanders Fire Department stood by at Riverhead’s headquarters, Riverhead FD spokesperson Bill Sanok said.
This fire is under investigation by Southampton Town Fire Marshals.
